Satyananda Yoga Nidra® - The Power Nap.
Yoga Nidra, the practice of 'Psychic Sleep', is a simple yet powerful guided relaxation enjoyed while lying down. It can provide a blissful experience in which the body and mind sleep - but the consciousness remains active and aware. It's a little like dreaming while awake.
Yoga Nidra induces sense withdrawal (Pratyahara) and complete physical, mental and emotional release. It can be applied in many creative ways from helping with insomnia, restoring vitality and deep healing, to being used as a simple meditation practice. It is most successful as a method for letting go of built-up tension and stress that unconsciously build up with busy lifestyles.
The class:
Surya Namaskar (sun salutation series) and a 30-minute Satyananda Yoga Nidra ® relaxation will be the core focus of this session.
Stretch out and release tension from the body-mind complex using the smooth yet dynamic flow of Surya Namaskar to enhance the process of 'letting go' into a deep conscious stillness. All eight stages of the ancient classical Yoga Nidra technique will be systematically shared so that students can enjoy the healing and nourishing gifts of yogic sleep with awareness.
