Svastha Yoga of Krishnamacharya: Teacher Training with Ganesh Mohan 200-hr Yoga Alliance Certified Programme
Hong Kong – Tsim Sha Tsui 6-28 March, 2010

The yogi Krishnamacharya (1888-1989) is widely credited as the "father of modern yoga". His students included Sri BKS Iyengar and Sri Pattabhi Jois. There is hardly a style of yoga anywhere in the world now that has not been influenced by or derived from his teachings.
Svastha in Sanskrit refers to the state of complete health and balance.
Krishnamacharya used to say that people come to yoga for different reasons, but three are important: for maintaining health and fitness, for therapy when they are unwell, and for spiritual or personal transformation. This programme will build a solid foundation for you to teach students with any of these needs.
Krishnamacharya's central principle was that yoga must be made relevant to the student. Consequently, this programme will emphasise a personalised approach to yoga and help you develop the skills needed to teach a variety of people taking into account their occupation, life stage, and state of health - whether it is a 15-year old on the school basketball team, or a 70-year-old grandmother not doing any other regular exercise.
We will cover all the other traditional aspects of yoga (mantras, mudras, bandhas, cakras, kriyas etc), as well as the connections with anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and modern medicine. Important pointers and concepts from ayurveda - the traditional system of Indian medicine - and its connections to yoga will also be taught. You will gain the understanding necessary to help others on a path to holistic health.
This course is intended for
• serious students interested in becoming certified to teach yoga
• committed students who wish to deepen their personal practice
• yoga teachers from all schools seeking a greater understanding of authentic principles of yoga
• yoga teachers fulfilling Yoga Alliance's continuing education requirements
• students interested in building a firm foundation to pursue the intensive yoga therapy programme with the Mohans
This course will be taught in English.

| FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
|---|
Will I be able to teach right after I graduate from this programme?
Yes. The material taught in this course prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to teach yoga. Some students take it to deepen their own personal practice, as a life transformational experience, while others do it to immediately to start teaching. Others who do not want to proceed into teaching immediately immerse themselves in further trainings.
It is important to remember that teaching is as much an art as a science. Teaching is a life-long learning experience. We learn every time we teach, keeping our knowledge fresh and facing different challenges as we encounter students and situations with varying requirements. Consequently, we encourage all students who graduate from Svastha training programs to teach yoga, even if only to their own family or friends.
This program should be viewed not as a shortcut to becoming a yoga teacher, but as a solid foundation upon which you will continue to develop your expertise in teaching—whether you intend to make teaching a full-time career, a part-time activity, or a personal development skill.
Will I be able to teach at Pure Yoga after graduating from this programme?
Pure Yoga is always open to applications and support graduates from our programmes. We do have many teachers at Pure Yoga currently that are previous graduates. While we encourage graduates to apply with us, there is never a guarantee of job placement due to availability of openings or space within our studios. However, any graduates that apply with us are kept in our database and are advised if there are openings available.
Will Pure Yoga help with my Yoga Alliance application?
Upon successful graduation of our teacher training programmes, we will send the students a link to where they can apply for the Yoga Alliance certification. This training program is Yoga Alliance accredited, meaning that students graduating will "automatically" be approved when they apply to Yoga Alliance.
If I miss one day, will I be able to make up for it?
Students undergoing this programme must be committed and understand that full attendance is required. Should there be any problems with this, students must speak with the faculty prior to the course.
Will I receive a certificate after the programme?
Upon successful completion and following the code of conduct, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda for this teacher training programme. |
